About Marcus Wilson
Hello from Marcus in Guernsey!
I am also based in St Peter Port and am 1st Mate & Chief Engineer aboard the good ship "Boatshed". I head up the Yacht Services department, which includes new installations, electrical/mechanical repair and maintenance.
I started boating at a very early age on my Aunt's Birchwood Intrepid Junior called Necton - and haven't stopped since! I captained Hertfordshire sailing team at the National Schoolboy Championships in 1977 where I won an Owen Asher Award. Since then I have gained instructor qualifications in sail & power and have instructed the visually impaired and the sea cadets among many others.
Some of my notable voyages have included an extended Baltic cruise as 1st Mate on a Hylas 54 and skippering a Nordhavn 43 across the Bay of Biscay in Gale Force 8.
40 years of Engineering Experience...
Prior to joining Boatshed, I have had a 40 year multidiscipline career in industrial & marine engineering. My last position was senior technical engineer for a major forklift company where I specialised in hydraulic & electrical control systems as well as all things mechanical.
I am excited to apply my nautical and engineering experience to solve the problems of Boatshed Customers as efficiently & cost effectively as possible.
During the listing process we carry out a multipoint checklist of the most common technical issues that occur in Brokerage boats. As well as taking numerous photos, videos and VR media, we create a detailed specification of all the systems aboard your vessel. From this, we can develop a custom Maintenance Schedule to keep your boat in top condition until she sells.
We are delighted to offer deeply discounted marine labour rates on any boat listed for sale with us.
The Boatshed Difference...
First of all we are sailors and serial boat owners - this means we share the same passion for the sea as our customers and also have first hand knowledge of the issues of boat ownership.
Secondly we have the technical expertise in-house to solve those issues so your yacht can be best prepared for viewing, survey & sea trial. We can make sure those small snags that buyers & surveyors notice & negotiate with are resolved before they even step aboard!
If you have questions, technical or otherwise, please feel free to contact me directly.
