About Tom Whitby
Ahoy from Guernsey!
I am based in St. Peter Port and skipper the Guernsey brokerage for Boatshed. We cover all of the Channel Islands from our Guernsey base thanks to our extensive partnership network. I grew up sailing in the English Channel and have always enjoyed visiting the Island - it doesn't get any better than speeding through the Alderney Race on a fair tide and arriving in St. Peter Port in time for last orders. The opportunity to relocate permanently to Guernsey was too good to pass up!
I hold my Yachtmaster Offshore with commercial endorsement and am an ABYC certified Marine Electrical, Diesel and Systems Technician. I have done a series of professional yachting job ranging from a 55ft monohull to a 66ft Gunboat performance catamaran and even a delivered a 60ft Rapido Trimaran - sailing at 25 knots is quite an experience!
My last command at sea was a two year stint as Captain of a 90ft expedition motor yacht owned by a well known British businessman.
The Boatshed Difference
First of all we are sailors and serial boat owners - this means we share the same passion for the sea as our customers and also have first hand knowledge of boat ownership. They say the happiest days of boat ownership are the day you buy and the day you sell - however I think all those days in between when the sun is shining and everything is working are pretty darn good too!
Secondly we have the technical expertise in-house to solve those issues that can spoil your day. We can advise you on how your yacht can be best prepared for successful viewing, survey & sea trial. We can make sure those small snags that buyers & surveyors notice & negotiate are resolved before they even step aboard!
We are delighted to offer deeply discounted marine labour rates on any boat listed for sale with us - please call for details!
Finally, nothing matters more to us than our reputation. We are committed to excellence in everything we do. We will act with honesty, integrity and in YOUR best interests in everything we do. If anything ever goes wrong, we will make it right.
Please do get in touch!
