Comentario del broker
*The owner will include the price of transportation to Falmouth (or near) in sale price.
The Falmouth Working Boats have survived as a class because of the oyster fishing which has continued in the river Fal for hundreds of years. The native oysters are grown in the shallow waters of the upper reaches of the river and must only be dredged under sail or oar by law.
This boat is a lovely example of the original Falmouth Working Boat, her pretty lines draw the eye and the capacity for a huge sail area is immediately obvious from the length of her elegant spars, her bowsprit alone is 16ft long.
The class is still raced very competitively in the Fal however the current owner enjoyed sailing her locally with family and friends. He does admit she can be a bit of a handful shorthanded in a stiff breeze.
Anyone who knows anything about these boats will understand that they are all about tradition and seamanship - in both the way they are sailed and maintained. This boat was fully restored in 1993 and has a recent (2013) survey available. She benefits from a new engine with just 6 hours (used only for getting on and off the dock), new paint and anti foul and will come with a new all over cover.
The restoration was documented in Boatman Magazine and the full 8 page article is available to prospective purchasers on request.
An opportunity to own and sail a beautiful piece of British maritime history.
