Comentario del broker
Anyone remember Howard's Way? The 1980's saga of Hamble, sorry Tarrant, yachting folk; their trials tribulations infidelity and angst? The bewildered Tom, fragrant Jan and dastardly Ken? Well apart from my favourite character - the grumpy Jack Rolfe, owner of the ailing Mermaid Yard - the saviour and star of the show was undoubtedly the new wonder yacht - the Spring 25 - but enough of nostalgia!
The MG Spring 25 is a very interesting concept with a huge amount of accommodation packed into a 25 foot yacht; yet she is reputed to to sail with 'sparkling performance' (YM). Lightly built maybe but what could be more sensible for an ex dinghy sailor with a growing family who requires the accommodation afforded by a proper yacht but doesn't wish to sacrifice sailing pleasure? A caravan on the water she isn't. An additional attraction is her ability to take the ground and dry upright, so enabling visits to our picturesque harbours and havens, courtesy of her wing keel and twin rudders. Her spacious heads compartment, separate aft cabin and pleasant saloon with a double berth forward make her particularly suitable for a couple with smallish children or two couples. Although there are six berths in total she would be a tad crowded with a full complement on board! Her Yanmar diesel is reported as serviced and reliable and although there is a full sail wardrobe, ideal for club racing, I would be fitting the roller furling gear (provided) as a matter of some priority for relaxed cruising. NB this has now been done as at 10/08/14.
