The length overall for moorage purposes is 24 ft.

This R-21 EC was built out of solid fiberglass and gelcoat. Overall, a rugged vessel and very popular here in the Pacific Northwest.

The cabin feels weather tight and quiet, and there is also a forced air heater that utilizes engine heat to warm the cabin in cool weather.

I found her easy to move around in and there seems to be great access to all serviceable components. Current owner states the zincs were replaced recently as well as bottom paint within the last year.

The holding tank, water tank, and the fuel tank are polypropylene. There are stainless fill caps along side decks for fueling and pump out.

Access to the bilge and bilge pump is aft of the engine compartment. The bilge pump has an automatic float switch as well as a manual control switch just starboard of the helm station.

Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller provided information and/or literature.

As you enter the aft deck you'll notice the engine housing that doubles as a work station or table top. The gunnels on the side decks on the aft port and starboard quarters have fixtures for removable down riggers as well as rod holders. The aft deck is in great shape and getting into the engine compartment is quite simple. The lazzerette has a lot of space for fishing gear, bicycles, inflatables. etc. There is an extended swimming platform aft with an electric davit crane. The is a ladder hidden in the floor of the swim platform to keep a flush working surface.

Overhead the aft deck is a custom bimini. The material is a robust sunbrella type cloth that is of heavy denier. This can be removed if need be.

Facing forward is a sliding door accessing the main cabin/pilot house. The cabin is heated with forced air from the engine. Again, there are large windows allowing visibility in and out of the cabin. Ventilation is excellent. As you pass through the companionway, It's is a small step down into the cabin area. Being over 6`, I never felt like I had to duck at all. It really seems like a very nice place to spend time.

Once inside the cabin and immediately to port, you have a compact water basin and single burner alcohol stove top with a protective cover. When not in the use the galley becomes a copilot seat with back rest and brace-points while underway.

A reasonably sized refrigerator is to starboard as you enter the cabin. Ample storage options run for and aft on either bulkhead and extend toward the forward v-berth.

The helm station has the best view in the house! While positioned at the custom wood trimmed Ranger wheel, one can keep an eye on everything. Ergonomically, I found all controls to be where they needed to be and all gauges, instruments were visible. All instruments appear to be functioning properly.

Did I mention there is a bow thruster on this girl! What a great feature! The combination of the centrally located engine and a bow thruster on a 21 ft tug should give pretty impressive maneuverability.

The V-berth begins just below the helm station and extends forward into lowest section of the foc'sle. There is a good size access hatch for ventilation or accessing the foredeck. The V-berth is good sized and no doubt would be a comfortable nest while at anchor or underway in calmer conditions. Another bonus feature, there is a removable platform upon entering the v-berth that reveals a proper Jabsco marine head.

Commentaires du Broker

This R-21 EC (Extended Cab) version has been set up for cruising, fishing and crabbing. It has the extended swim platform and electric davit crane to haul in crab pots or shrimp pots.

As you approach the vessel it's easy to see why this model is so popular. The high railings and deep V-hull really give her a purposeful stance. On the bow rests a 12 lb Lewmar anchor. There is 30' of chain with another 120' of rode. For anchor retrieval, there is a T-H marine Anchor Master retriever.

The dark red gelcoat shows a little oxidation in spots but overall she's very clean. All the decks are integrated non-skid, showing no apparent signs of chipping or heavy wear.
The stainless steel railing and stanchions are bright, not showing excessive oxidation. Deck fixtures and cleats are solidly bedded and show little wear.

I really have to mention the visibility from every position on this boat. Ventilation is amazing. All windows and port lights are clean and intact with no visible signs of water ingress. The portholes are opening and all have bug screens on them. There are 3 top opening Lewmar hatches that function as they should.

All navigation lights and interior lights appear to be functioning as they should. Every component and control panel is easily reached including on the pilot house roof.

Accommodations are cleverly laid out and make use of the space provided. The R-21 EC cabins are comfortable and provide great protection from the elements. The head looks unused and does have a holding tank with pump out line. The compact galley offers a handy basin and an efficient single burner stovetop.

This Ranger tug is a perfect size for a couple just getting into the trawler/tug lifestyle, retirees that love to fish and cruise the coastlines of puget sound. It is easy to manage and does not take up space in the marina; making it a feasible option for storage.

A great benefit of this model is versatility. At 21 feet and just 3100 lb dry weight, this vessel can be easily towed and launched. This particular R-21 does comes with a heavy duty aluminum EZ loader trailer.
